Gustavo Guajardo
Hi, my name is Gustavo Guajardo and I am an incoming Assistant Professor at San Diego State. My research agenda explores how corruption and accountability intersect with electoral institutions, legislative behavior, and representation, with a regional focus in Latin America. In my research, I employ large-n observational data analysis, causal inference, natural experiments, and elite interviews from fieldwork experiences. My work has been published or is forthcoming in the American Political Science Review, Comparative Political Studies, and Legislative Studies Quarterly. My dissertation examines the conditions under which politicians advance anticorruption reform with the support of the American Political Science Association's NSF-funded Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant and Rice University's Social Sciences Research Institute Dissertation Improvement Grant.
I hold an M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from Rice University. Before coming to Rice, I completed my B.A. in Political Science at Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (Mexico City).
